Gerrit Cole, pitcher for the New York Yankees has won the Cy Young award. This award goes to the best pitcher in the MLB.Major League Baseball. But he didn’t just win it. He won it 147 votes to zero. Nobody picked The 31 year old to not win the award.

If you like baseball, you’d probably know who Gerrit Cole is. He is easily the best pitcher in the MLB. If you look at some statistics, there is hardly any statistic that Gerrit is first in. Gerrit Cole isn’t just good, he’s consistent as well but his background is crazy.

He had finished second in the award twice. In 2019, to his teammate, and in 2021 in one of the most controversial Cy Young votes ever. Gerrit was the starting pitcher for the American League in the All Star game. The All star game is when some of the best players in MLB play in one game.

He allowed zero runs in his start. He issued zero walks, and one strike out.

Half way through the year, it looked like he had a 60% chance to win the Cy Young award. By the end of the year, he had a 99.99999999(Definitely more nines.) % chance of winning the Cy Young award. Let’s get into his background.

At the age of 17, he got drafted 28th overall by the Yankees. However, he decided to go to college, and then got drafted at age 20 by the Pirates.

He was a hero in Pittsburgh. He was the best pitcher on the team, and then out of nowhere, he got traded to the Houston Astros. He finished third, and then second in the Cy Young, and for some reason got traded for a second time to the New York Yankees. From then on, he had been the best pitcher in Major League Baseball.

Now he is at where he is today. Won the Cy Young award 147 votes to zero. He has never won the World Series in his life. But he can’t control that. He has one last thing that he has to achieve. Winning the World Series.
